Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
